"Yeah it's awful. Hey maybe you can tell us what this is made of!" Theros pulls the sword back out of the chest, half unsheathing it again. He presents it to Fletcher. "Yes, bits and pieces," he says, addressing Aryteneus before turning his attention to the sword. He draws it fully from its sheathe and examines it carefully, muttering to himself in Talis. (2 on Blacksmith FoRK Whitesmith) "Well...? Could you make something like that?"

"Hold it like this!" Theros poses. "Feel the balance! It's so perfect! But we gotta keep it hidden because the adults might take it away from me."

I can't tell what it's made of but it's a master-level piece. Well cared for, too." He looks up at Theros, thoroughly impressed. "It's very nice. Keep it safe and hidden."

Now we can all practice at once! How many didja make? Maybe we could have a melee battle! Or a strategic war game!"

"Ah, I made 8 of them. They're stacked in a corner in the courtyard." By the time he addresses Ary he looks pensive. "What use is one's craft if one does not work to perfect it?"

"Have you ever made a real sword before, Fletcher?"

"Have you ever made a real sword before, Fletcher?" Fletcher looks quite pleased at Ary's comment! "No, and I wouldn't have for quite some time in Talisport - when I left, I was apprenticed to a fine metals worker - gold and silver, pins and jewelry, that sort of thing. I would have had to learn swords and other blacksmithing after I was already a journeyman. Swords are difficult - they are difficult to handle on the forge and every piece needs careful tempering lest it break, chip, or shock your arm overmuch in combat. Swords have to be thinner at the tip than the base too, and it's very hard to get that right."
