You happen to get a horrible splinter in one finger and probably notice something flying overhead. Bats! He ignores the bats and curses at the splinter. Best take care of that right away, wounds always festered quick if you didn't. He goes over to the fountain and puts his finger in one of the streams, pressing the point of the knife into the splinter and flicking it out rapidly with practiced precision. He couldn't even count the number of times he'd had to do this. A little crayfish in the fountain happens to pinch your finger as you stick it in and hold on.

His chest swells with pride. "I'm sure you're clever enough too. I've heard you're bright and talented with magic." She smiles "That's just flattery I think." "You think? It must have some merit since everyone seems in agreement."

It's like a tiny lobster! They're good to eat!" Theros tries to grab it by the back of the neck so it can't pinch him.

Theros tries to grab it by the back of the neck so it can't pinch him. Startled, Fletcher reflexively drops his knife and staggers back away from Theros a step, instinctually turning his body forward into the direction he would fall if he tripped, and simultaneously flinging his arms in front of him in preparation to catch himself. It is probably the silliest looking and most undignified maneuver any of you has ever seen. (Agi:2)

"It's my day to startle people!" He picks up Fletcher's knife by the blade and hands it back to him, handle first. "Guess what Thassos just told me! We do get a short vacation time when we can visit our families!"

He takes the knife and returns Theros' knife in the same fashion, moving slowly and deliberately. "Thank you..." He first brightens considerably at the comment that we can take vacations, but then looks down at the ground and puts his hand up to his face, trying to cover his eyes. "That's nice." (In case you don't recall, you lent your knife to carve the swords.)

Theros tosses the little crayfish back into the water. He sees Fletcher look away. Only then does he remember what Fletcher said back in the hall. "Wouldn't your family want to know if you're alive?"

"No. They would..." His voice trembles and he looks to be struggling to speak. "I'm sorry Theros. Could we talk about this later?"
