"I'd have to sit and think about it. I know I have a few more I need to earn. I'll show you later if you want." His chest swells proudly before he glances at Yarrow. "Ka, you have to sit for a few hours while they tap in the ink. The ones on my arms are for certain feats - like sailing. The one on my chest is my family's crest."

He looks like he's about to respond, but pauses a moment and just smiles. "Yeah, I guess you could get a little flame or something here...and yes you have to find certain inks. Some people use plants; some get ink from squids. It depends on the colors you want. It does hurt, but not as bad as some of the other stuff you have to do to earn them. The needles are like this long," He moves his fingers a couple of inches a part. "They're hand carved bone."
Her eyes light up as she imagines herself covered in cool tattoos. "I could sit through some pokes for that!" |
