Yarrow sits down cross-legged and cracks open the book. "Our story begins with a young warrior named Kolvik..." he goes on the describe a small band of warriors from the city of Jardin in Northern contienet, and how they were on the trail of some raiders who had raided their city and kidnapped a number of children to be sold as slaves. "On the fifth night out from the city they spotted a few lights on the horizon like campfires. They had been pushing their horses hard since they left and they were on their last leg. This had to be them they told themselves..." he looks around at everyone's expressions for a moment to see how they are reacting. Burn is leaning foward as she sits, enraptured by the tale. Her eyes big and bright, her mouth in a smaller version of her usual grin. Aryteneus seems to be enjoying everything until he has to figure out how to translate the equivalent of "on their last leg".

Theros arranges the other books in patterns on the floor as he listens.

Fletcher appears interested, listening intently, but occasionally correcting a perceived imperfection in the fort's construction.

If Conrad could write he would be taking notes. Instead he is listening intently while trying to not look too interested.

"So they snuck out in the dead of night, sneaking swiftly but silently towards the light. As the approached they all heard a crunching through the grass, they looked around to see what had made it but saw nothing for a dense fog had rolled in. They waited and waited swords drawn at the ready for what seemed like hours before a figure emerged through the fog. A man, one of the bandits, they all soon recognized him. He was sprinting as fast as he could right towards them. Kolvik stepped in the way trying to block him off but the man went right Through him. 'after him!' the captain hissed quietly, and two of the guards sprinited off after him, but returned a few minutes later. 'No where to be found sir, not even a track.' There were uneasy murmurings amongst the group, but no one wanted to guess what actually may be going on. They had to find the kids, that's all they knew."

"They should charge!" Theros watches Yarrow's face as he reads, seeking expressions that will let him know what's happening next.

"With all that fog I'm surprised they haven't gotten lost!"

Yarrow is grinning though otherwise his face is unreadable. "Well they knew this land like the back of their hand, which makes the next part even weirder. As they went towards the lights it seemed like they got further away with each step, but they kept going until all of a sudden they found themselves right in the middle of a forest! Great pines and oaks rose up all around them, and there were bushes and brush up to their knees or waists in some places. They looked all around but couldn't manage to find their way out."

"The ghost forest!"

"Yeah! There were a few murmerings of that, but no one wanted to believe it. Perhaps they were just lost after all. They had to find the kids anyway. That was of course their top priority. So they pressed onward in the direction they last saw the light. It was not long before they reached a small clearing with a campfire still going. There were tents and bedrolls all around but as they checked the area there was not a body in sight."

"Come on guys, don't lay down! You've got kids to save!"

They must had gotten lost. The first plan was to keep the fire going but all the firewood around was far to damp to light. Then someone suggested taking a rope when they went out into the forest. They would tie one end to a tree in the camp and the other end they would tie around one of their waists that way they could always find their way back."
