Fletcher walks out of the boy's dorms and into the courtyard, heading first toward the fountains but veering off towards the gardens when he sees people there. He approaches looking over a large and simple knife, testing the edge and appraising it for any flaws.

Fletcher looks briefly at the group, contemplating approaching them directly, but instead decides to go examine the statues, looking them over carefully and admiring the craftsmanship.
He contemplates trying the maze.

Fletcher grows bored of the statues and wanders around, taking in the sights and gathering sticks. After he has a few, he takes a seat on a stone or some other suitable surface and begins methodically whittling away, trying to recreate the wooden swords.
