"I hope you are all as equally excited to learn about mathematics and physics as I am. Physics is a bit more fun I confess - we can break out sledge hammers and make explosions - but this will have to do for now. No point running when you cannot even walk. That said, these problems are designed to stretch you. For instance...I'm erasing the first one - every one have it down? Good. Gone! Here's another triangle - one angle is 20 degrees the next 60 degrees and the last we have labeled as 'x'. 'X' is our unknown value. Now we know all angles have to add up to 180 in order for it to be a triangle, no? So this means that 20 plus 60 plus x must equal 180. Follow so far? Good. I think that's enough of a start for you to do most of the work. I have an office somewhere if you need help, but no office hours - it's come and go as you please. Now you are free to go on to your next class! I know it's a bit early - but I have to run back to natural laws! Have a lovely geometric day!"

"Yes, ma'am! You expect us to do work when all we got was you rambling off on some tangent about triangles and degrees! You do realize this is INTRO to math and geometry. Not ADVANCED. We need someone who will take time to explain things. Especially with some of the students who don't even know how to write yet!" Lan huffs bitterly. "I get that right now is a very... Stressful time with the headmaster being gone, but that doesn't mean to neglect teaching us properly." |

"I never considered myself neglectful in my teaching. I only talked about calculus for five minutes, if that...there's so much more to it." Her eyes water for a half moment and then the expression is replaced with a thoughtful scowl. "I did teach the basics today I thought - or are you confused on how to find x in this problem? Perhaps you can come to my office later and I can give you some extra help if you are unable to keep up in class? Cannot have our king unable to do geometry one day!" His eyes narrow. "I wouldn't have to go to your office if you only slowed down to a speed which any normal human could understand." His fingers tap on the desk. "But fine. I'll come to your office later and hopefully I'll learn something this time."

His face grows red with embarrassment. This son of- this woman insults me!? Compares me to my father!? Lan's face contorts till he forces a smile. "Is that speaking from experience, ma'am?" Lan says then quickly gathers his things and leaves before she says anything in return. |
