there is a Twenety by twenty foot circle in the center of a dirt field. Around it are wooden benches for spectators to watch. As you approach you can feel the buzz of magical energy surrounding the place.

Aryteneus wanders up, eyeing the circle curiously. It seemed a bit large...but maybe that was since they were beginners?

Quick summary of class:
Konstantin, professor, showed up. He has black hair and two dueling scars on his cheek (a la Inigo Montoya). We did not get along.
The dueling rings on this side of the continent are backwards (too large, weird extra lines, and stupid extra rules). Who has ever heard of a duel where the goal is not to hurt one another? Any how, the professor explained some of the rules and Aryteneus remarked that that seemed stupid and useless. Duels are to kill; not a game.
The professor assigned a three page essay on the history of dueling (while also giving Ary a fair number of glares). Once again, Aryteneus challenged this stating that he can do independent research on his own and it seemed silly to show up to a class just to be told to go home and write a paper. The professor challenged him to demonstrate then. Aryteneus and Tellia were the only volunteers. They insisted on dueling Drakarian style, but Konstantin got into another back and forth debate with Ary on the style of dueling ("if you listened and knew the rules" vs. "well if you actually taught us" type deal).
Aryteneus and Tellia had an awesome little fight. Tellia is clearly superior at magic, but she was overdrawing just a bit. Ary won because Konstantin awarded stupid points for rules that neither of them understood (like not waiting the proper amount of time before attacking or stepping out of bounds, etc. etc.).
Class ends. Ary and Tellia agree to go do research in the library for their papers. Ary and Konstantin glare at each other. Ary asks professor if it is possible for them to get tutoring in the Drakarian style outside of class - Konstantin said yes if we hire a tutor, but either way it's not his problem and he won't teach us. Aryteneus said he would be surprised if Konstantin was bothered to actually teach after his display today. Cue imperial swag walk out.

8th month, 27th day, Year 862 (Wednesday of the first week)
Aryteneus arrives to class promptly and will turn in his essay. He wrote on the subject he discussed with Lan in the library (the sword duel over a city that was fought by two mages).

If not go back and stand where you are supposed to."

A boy who appears to be from the area wearing fine clothes snickers at Ary before turning to a group of boys and whispering among themselves.

"Oh...okay." He steps back, arms crossed as he inwardly curses that he knew he mixed up the verb order now and then.
