There is a list of 122 rules. Aryteneus' face scrunches. What a ridiculous waste. He casually will read over them though, but this is hardly proper. Perhaps he should just call it something other than dueling...treat it like a game...do not get angry over their ignorance.

"Now your assignment for monday I would like you to go over the first fifty and write a small explanation as to why you think they are important. Also have chapters one and two read."

"What if we cannot find a reason for their being important?" "Minus two points Aryteneus. Raise your hand next time. If you cannot find a reason for them to be important then you are not thinking hard enough, but if you honestly need help come to my office after class and I will walk you through it."

He sighs and resolves to speak to Konstantin later then.

He glances over the rules in another imperial's book, flipping through the pages quickly to get an idea of how many answers he will have to make up for this assignment.

Some rules do seem to be carried over but around 20 or 30 are added and are really odd to you. Tellia copies you unsure what to do here.

Vantis flips through his book in disgust. What a waste of time.

"Rules two to fifteen detail the parameters for starting positions and they layout of the feild. Whereas sixteen to fifty will all detail actions of good sportsmaship. Since our imperial students are keen on learning about their old system, i would like to point out that there are remnants of the old rules in rules 12, 18, 22, 31, and 47, before they were amended in 223 for reasons of safety."

Remnants of the rules...Aryteneus shakes his head disapprovingly, wishing class was over.

"I would advise taking note how the dueling circle is set up as you will each have to construct one for the first test, as well as be able to tell what each line's function is. This dueling court is open during the week until 8 o'clock so if any of you wish to come here and practice that is an option for you." His eyes scan over the class resting on Ary and Tellia for a moment he seems like he's debating something in his mind, but then he resumes his lecture. "The second test will be over the various actions you should preform before and after a duel, as well as proper sportsmanlike conduct during a duel, your third test will be over the history of dueling and will be your only entirely written exam, while fourth test will be over some of the basics of Dueling Theory. We may not get that far though. Those subjects may be too advanced for some of you.

At least he was organized - he would ask Tellia to practice drawing lines later.
