Walking to the girls dorms Conrad and Burn chatted a bit about the island she was from and what she used to do. That brought up Conrad's past and why he did not like talking about it. He explained that some people feel that a severe beating was not enough and that me having the talent was no excuse to not hang me. They then switched topics to her trip here and Conrad decided to try and fix her seasickness. Conrad then learned about what Burn and co discovered about the tower and they speculated on how Brin found them and navigated within the tower. After that Conrad filled in burn on what happened to him the day before and discussed why people told burn that magic could harm you if you used too much despite the lack of evidence. We decided there was a much more complicated reason that they said this and that maybe it wasn't all one big fat lie.

What crime was the severe beating an inadequate punishment for? If Conrad mentioned it, and if I may ask.

What crime was the severe beating an inadequate punishment for? If Conrad mentioned it, and if I may ask. That was his punishment for being born a pirate. Not like he had a lot of choice in the matter.
