Deep within one of the church's hiding places Caerus and the preists discuss, in a civil manner, the specifics of the contract that was signed. Meanwhile Rolland shows the students a secret spot where they can listen in.

(I imagine this is after they travel back to Goldport and have established a safehouse to be discussed later. It would be before the "Fun Times with Uncle Caerus" board posts and side chats)
"I was hoping to revise the nature of the contract you forced upon my students." Caerus says casually. He is looking disheveled as ever as he rubs his wrists in thought. He moves to half sit and leans on the edge of the main desk where the young priest is working.

Kai listens, exploring around the little hiding spot and doing stretches for his arm.

The younger priest grumbles "I think the nature of the contract is pretty set in stone, perhaps some of the finer points could be modified if you wished."

I believe the Church was the one who felt obligated to uphold an iron bound contract on children. I was unaware Cashemar favoured slavery." He rolls his eyes. "The contract states that you retain the right to modify it at any time? 'Set in stone' seems the antithesis to that. There are quite a few points that need editing. For instance the timeline - within a year? What tosh."

Yes, somehow I do think that would take longer." He half leans across the desk to look over the contract again and to loom a bit over the priest. "I want to know the maximum time frame you can allow."

"A good job takes time, much like any artisan with their craft. I will let you know when I feel they are ready then and we will proceed." He says with a shrug, eyeballing the young man's hair again and wondering why he bothers dying it. "I imagine it will be a few years. I also believe we should target the Beliel or Dracmere Lords first. That said I disapprove of the contract stating the 'whole' family. It's very vague and I cannot sanction slaughtering an entire family for no reason other than your political pursuits."

"Mopped up? Is that how you describe killing children and wives? Hmm." He strums his fingers on the desk before standing. "And why are you being so coy? I presume you lot intend to take power. If so then I think you're perfectly capable of managing your own mopping. I think you're more concerned by the fact that you will probably fail and stir up quite the animosity with these ancient families. Regardless, that is up to fate not us. We balance the game, not offset it in your favour. The Lords only."

Rose will keep still as she listens. She probably gives Kai a warning look about him exploring and fidgeting
